I guess I had forgotten how wonderful it felt reading a nice novel and so now I’m trying to makeup for lost time. Just managed to read the ‘Kite runner’ by Khaled Hosseini and ‘the curious incident of the dog in the night-time’ (CIDNT) by Mark Haddon. The Kite Runner was moving and a beautiful story but I felt there were parts which were quite ‘Bollywoodish’. I’m starting on his next novel which is ‘A thousand splendid suns’ which I hear is a bit less melodramatic.
CIDNT by Mark Haddon to quote the Boston Globe is ‘gloriously eccentric and wonderfully intelligent’. I love the way the novel deconstructs Christopher’s mind which acts like a bridge into your own thought process.
I’m scared at this rate that I wont have time for anything else but reading on this winter break
